Photographs, ca.1845-1930, including cased photographs, black and white prints, and one retouched to include color. The cased photographs are all daguerreotypes. They include images of Malcolm D. Graham, the John Graham family, Jerusha May Rives, and the Thomas R. Northington family. The black and white photographs include images of Hugh M. Caffey (b.1854), Sallie Caffey Dalison, Hugh W. Caffey (1833-1919), Francis F. Caffey (b.1868), Thomas Caffey, Jerusha May Rives Caffey, Samuel W. Catts, Eugene M. Caffey, Thomas Caffey (1784-1878), Mary Patrick Caffey (1786-1851), Hugh Patrick Caffey, Jane Caroline Dunkin, and Dorothy Northington. Many are photos of portraits. There is also a retouched photo in color of Maude Mae Caffey, as well as black and white images of the Clifton house in Verbena, Ala., and of an 1870 painting of Samuel W. Catts' home in Pleasant Hill, Dallas Co., Ala., done by Lillian Lee Catts. Most of the photographs were annotated in ink by the donor. There are some notes with the daguerreotypes.

H. W. Caffey was appointed acting surgeon at the Winder Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, in August 1862. He was assigned to wards 45 and 46 and later to ward 43. He was promoted to assistant surgeon by the Medical Examining Board in Richmond and sent to Camp Holmes, near Raleigh, North Carolina, in order to examine conscripts for the Confederate Army.
